250 people came to confession after this flyer was distributed in our Sunday bulletin on Palm Sunday! Our pastor was overjoyed!

DO YOUR PART IN SPREADING THE GREAT MESSAGE OF DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY! PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED FLYER BY CLICKING ON THE "DOWNLOAD FLYER" BUTTON TO THE RIGHT.

Print a copy and bring it to your pastor. Ask your pastor if you can put this flyer into your Sunday bulletin 1 or 2 weeks before Easter.

You can have this sheet printed at any print shop. Tell the printer to print it so that its finished size is 5.5 x 8.5, printed “two up” on an 8.5 x 11 sheet, one color. 1000 copies will cost around $40.00 to $60.00 depending on the printer.

We also asked our pastor to read the following on Easter Sunday. Please ask your pastor to do the same:

"Next Sunday, the Sunday after Easter, is Divine Mercy Sunday. Please take advantage of the extraordinary grace of complete remission of sins and punishment by going to confession sometime during the next week and receiving Holy Communion with confidence and trust in God's Mercy next Sunday.”

If your Pastor has time, he can also add: “Ordinarily, only the Sacrament of Baptism effects in the soul the “complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” Reception of the Eucharist in a state of grace ordinarily remits only venial sin, while strengthening the soul against both venial and mortal sin (Catechism, 1394-1395). But on Mercy Sunday reception of Holy Communion worthily and with trust in God's Mercy pours out upon the soul a complete renewal of baptismal grace.* What a tremendous opportunity this is to receive a special outpouring of God’s mercy, both upon oneself and for others!”
* - Rev. Ignacy Rozycki, STD, Former Member of the Holy See’s International Theological Commission.

God bless you, and thank you for spreading Our Lord’s message of Divine Mercy. Please read the promises Our Lord makes to those who spread this message in Faustina’s Diary, entries 1074, 1075, and 1540.

The Sunday after Easter is now officially Divine Mercy Sunday - how should I prepare for this great Feastday?

In Rome on April 30, 2000, Pope John Paul II canonized Sister Faustina Kowalska of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy of Poland, ratifying one of the most hopeful messages ever given to the Universal Church. Sister Faustina was a mystic who received extraordinary graces from God, including visits from Our Lord, our Blessed Mother, the angels and the saints. In her convent cell in Plock, on February 22, 1931, Jesus said to her: “Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and [then] throughout the world.” (Diary 47) He then said, “I want this image, which you will paint with a brush, to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter; that Sunday is to be the Feast of Mercy.” (Diary 49)

Jesus then said He wanted this Image venerated, “first in your chapel, and then throughout the world”. He told her He desired a new feastday to be celebrated throughout the entire Church, and it was to be called the “Feast of Mercy”.

Jesus told Faustina that this Feast would be a day when “all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened”. (Diary 699) Jesus made a great promise to all those who would go to confession and receive Holy Communion on the second Sunday of Easter, saying:

“The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. (699) I want to grant a complete
pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My mercy.” (Diary 1109)

Today we want to bring Our Lord’s great promise to the attention of our parishioners, and to encourage our parish family to take advantage of this extraordinary grace this year by 1) sincere repentance and going to confession sometime between now and the second Sunday of Easter, 2) receiving Holy Communion on the day 3) being merciful to others through actions, words or prayers on their behalf.

The Image of The Divine Mercy will be blessed and displayed in front of the altar at all the Masses on that day. The Holy Father said the Image represents the Risen Christ bringing Mercy to the whole world. Please take a moment and, with gratitude and trust in God’s Mercy, recall the mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord while viewing the image. In this way, the Image will be venerated as Our Lord has asked: “I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it. (Diary 341)

Regarding this Image, Jesus told Faustina: Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You. I desire that this image be venerated, first in your chapel, and [then] throughout the world. I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [its] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory. I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: "Jesus, I trust in You." (Diary entries 47, 48, 49, 327)

Of the Feastday, Jesus said: “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” (Diary 699)

Please take advantage of this extraordinary grace - the complete forgiveness of sins and punishment by approaching the “fount of Mercy”, Holy Communion on that Sunday and the sacrament of reconciliation with true compunction, sometime between now and the Feastday. In these very troubled times, “it is important that we trust in the whole message that comes to us from the word of God on this second Sunday of Easter, which from now on throughout the Church will be called “Divine Mercy Sunday”. - Pope John Paul II, 4/30/2000.

“Ordinarily, only the sacrament of Baptism effects in the soul the ‘complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.’ Reception of the Eucharist in a state of grace ordinarily remits only venial sin, while strengthening the soul against both venial and mortal sin (Catechism, 1394-1395). But on Mercy Sunday reception of Holy Communion worthily and with trust in God's Mercy pours out upon the soul a complete renewal of baptismal grace.” - Rev. Ignacy Rozycki, STD, Former Member of the Holy See’s International Theological Commission.
